Hello, My name is Adam Scarbrough and I'm a front-end web developer. I studied web design and interactive media at the Art Institute of Atlanta and have now moved into the professional world of web design. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and I hope to hear from you soon.
For me, web design and development is one of the most interesting fields that a person could be involved with. As the years pass and technology continues to grow faster and faster the need for a web presence or a digital representation of yourself is becoming more important. By working in this field I am able to experience, learn, and be involved with the newest ways in which information is shared.
This field is ever expanding which leads the way to constant personal growth. The technologies I learned while I was in school already seem to be on the way out. By staying immersed in web design and development, I'm always seeing something new.
Constantly learning new skills, ideas, and techniques is what keeps web design and development fascinating.
For this project I was given the challenge of custom developing the Markstsys web site. I was given the .psd and asked to convert it into a fully functional Joomla! template. To do this I sliced apart the .psd and collected all the graphical elements. From there I created a static XHTML page and matched the layout using tableless CSS techniques. I then created a PHP Joomla! template and populated the site with content. After that I added various animation effects using JavaScript plugins and integrated them through Joomla!. The final step was to test the site in different browsers and make adjustments by adding conditional CSS documents.
The Brand Licensing Team website was one of my favorite projects to work on. I say this because it was completed as a team effort. This project was started before the team was in possession of all the content to expediate the process. This gave me the opportunity to sit down directly with the designers and figure out clean and clever ways to display the pages as content was recieved.
My responsibilities included: .psd slicing, Joomla! template creation, and individual page builds.
The Thrashers Blue Crew project was also a lot of fun to be involved with. This site was interesting because of the large amount of media that we were asked to organize and display in an easy to use manner. The site includes videos, photo galleries, bios for all the cheerleaders, contact forms, and rss/twitter feeds. This project for me was largely trial by fire, but this gave way to me learning an incredible amount in a short period of time.
My responsibilities included: .psd slicing, custom template development, individual page builds, and weekly maintenance.
The Aspire Group was an incredible opportunity for me. This project introduced me to the correct life cycle of a project from concept to finished product. The expectations of this site were clearly defined and executed. By the time I was asked to develop the site everything was thought through and layed out which lead to a quick transition from a static .psd to a dynamic website.
My responsibilities included: slicing the .psd, custom tempate development and maintenence of the site.
